If you haven't voted yet, today's your day. Hamilton County election officials counted roughly 70,000 in-person early ballots, nearly double the 40,000 cast in 2022 and approaching the 98,000 from 2024. That's with no race for president, governor or U.S. senator on the ballot.
“I think in Hamilton County, a lot of it is the referendums, the school referendums that are on the ballot. We have them in almost every city.”
Beth Sheller, Hamilton County Election Administrator
Statewide, preliminary numbers from the Indiana Election Division showed 714,724 early in-person ballots, up from 538,623 in 2022. Marion County counted about 86,000, a midterm record, and roughly 300 people were still in line when early voting ended at noon Monday. IndyStar had reported last week that Marion County's early turnout was more than double 2022's at the same point.
